King O’ Fun is a one-man comedy written by and starring Andy Jones. Loved for his portrayal of the character “Phonse” in the movie Rare Birds, the multi-talented actor was one of the groundbreaking comedy troupe CODCO on stage and television, and has extensively toured five one-man comedy shows in Canada, Ireland and the UK. His most recent one-man show “To The Wall” garnered four-star reviews in London, Edmonton and Toronto, and was made into a television performance for CBC’s Opening Night Series, for which he is presently nominated for a Gemini award.

“King O' Fun is a lighthearted show,” says Jones, “totally without redeeming social value. It's basically a few laughs. Well, more than a few I hope.” More than 250, to be precise, which is the number Jones’s character cheekily guarantees the audience at one point in the show. Jones says that he felt he had to up the ante a little, having guaranteed 200 laughs per show during another St. John’s run. No refund demands yet, and Jones is happy to deliver the laughs: “When people ask ‘Is it stand-up, sketch comedy, philosophical introspection, or Fat-Man-Dancing type humour’, I usually reply…’Yes.’ ”

King O’ Fun has been dramatically evolving since it last toured to rave reviews. As well as re-writing the script with director and dramaturge Charlie Tomlinson, Jones brought in experimental lighting designer Robert Gautier to work as a team with technical director Geoff Younghusband. The result is a package of concentrated original material with lots of greatest hits and new material, all rolled up with new effects.

King O’ Fun tells the story of a guy named Andy who gets crowned "King O' Fun" at a drunken party. To his friends and family it's just a joke but for him it's a vortex of agonized brooding. Being a conscientious king, he first travels the earth for “One-Year-and-One-Day” compiling all the best and most giggle-inducing "fun notions" for his report.

Unbeknownst to Andy, we also meet Jorello, the alien leader of a parallel universe, who is trying to teleport Andy from earth before his bad eating habits cause him to die an early death. But Andy may be lost forever in his attempts to recreate the Funniest Moment in Western Civilization (as reported by some German Tourists)!
